What is Kybella?
KYBELLA® is the first and only FDA-approved nonsurgical treatment that contours and improves the appearance of submental fullness. KYBELLA® is a nonsurgical, 15-20 minute in-office treatment session and is customized to help you achieve your treatment goals. KYBELLA®, when injected into the fatty area beneath your chin, works to destroy the fat cells. Once your aesthetic goals have been achieved, re-treatment is not expected.
At Pollard Concierge Health & Wellness we inject small amounts of KYBELLA® directly into the facial muscles which are causing the formation of your wrinkles. These painless injections will block the nerve impulses which cause the muscle contractions responsible for wrinkle formation. As your treatment takes effect, you will experience an improvement in the appearance of these wrinkles.
What is Submental Fullness?
Submental Fullness, also referred to as “double chin” is a common yet undertreated facial aesthetic condition that can impact a broad range of adults, including both men and women. Causes of this condition may include:
- Aging: condition may naturally develop as you age
- Genetics: Simply put; it may be a result of one’s DNA
- Weight gain: condition may present itself as a result of gaining weight
How does KYBELLA® work?
The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occuring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.
When injected into the fat beneath your chin, KYBELLA® causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells can no longer store or accumulate fat.
How is KYBELLA® administered?
KYBELLA® is typically administered in a 15-20 minute in-office treatment session. Dr. Pollard will give you a series of injections into the fatty area under your chin during each treatment session.
Both you and Dr. Pollard will customize your KYBELLA® treatment based on the amount of submental fullness you have along with your personal treatment goals. Together you and Dr. pollard will decide the treatment plan that is ideal for you.
What are the side effects of KYBELLA®?
The most common side effects of KYBELLA® include:
- Swelling
- Bruising
- Pain
- Numbness
- Redness
- and Areas of hardness about the treatment area
Is KYBELLA® right for me?
KYBELLA® may be an option for you if:
- You are bothered by submental fullness
- Surgery is not an option for you
- You feel that the condition makes you look older or heavier than you actually are
- You eat well and exercise, but submental fullness does not go away
How many treatments will I need?
Many patients treated with KYBELLA® experience visible contouring of their chin profile within 2 to 4 treatments.* Some patients may require up to 6 treatments in order to achieve the desired results. Once your chin profile has improved, you may not need to be treated with KYBELLA® again.
